Title: | Red Figure Krater Fragment with Plastic Attachment
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Fragment broken all around, from wall of large open vase, perhaps a calyx krater. Shiny black inside. Draped figure dancing right, preserved from waist to middle of lower legs, probably a maenad; the object hanging at the left would then be the end of her nebris; a little brown glaze along the break at the upper left, across the drapery, might be its lower edge. Attached to the pot, before the figure was drawn, is a curved object, somewhat suggsting a horn, in high relief, crossing the figure's legs, but apparently unrelated to it. Relief contour throughout. Note reserved areas along break at upper and lower right. ADDENDA (Sept. 2020), according to Agora XXX, uncertain if closed or open shape.
