Description: | Largely complete; missing fragments of body and rim and most of handle. Restored in plaster. Low, spreading foot. The underside of the floor is lumpy, and only slightly higher than the resting surface. Globular body, concave neck, round mouth. The lip outside has an angular profile. The neck is pushed forward slightly, and as a result the vase is a centimeter higher at the back than at the front. Exterior is covered with red wash. In places, as on the underside of the floor, the color is deep; in other places it is worn. Black glaze on the neck and rim, both inside and out. There is also a band of black glaze around the body at the level of the handle root, and another, broader, band that covers the foot and the lower limit of the body. Black glaze on the interior up to the level of the shoulder, which is not covered. Cf. Agora XII, no. 152. | |
