Separating the shaft and anthemion is an inscribed fascia with a beveled soffit:
Carved in moderate relief in a shallow shell is a split palmette composed of two six-leaved half-palmettes with a four-petaled flower between them, which spring, along with their volutes, from thick cauliculae. The leaves of the palmette are broad with even spacing between each one. Ten-leaved half-palmettes with volutes flank the central split palmette, springing from the same akanthos calyx.
Fine grained white marble with mica.
Context:   Among sepulchral marbles in garden west of Hephaisteion.
