Title: | Mold for Standing Draped Female Figurine
Category: | Terracotta Moulds
Description: | Mold for front part of figure on a fairly large scale. Broken at top and bottom; original edge preserved at both sides. The head is missing, the left hand and most of the right, and all below the knees. The figure stands turned slightly to her left, her right hand hanging at her side, her left arm bent at the elbow and the hand extended; the weight is on the left leg. She wears a Doric chiton with long ungirt overfold. At the left side of the mold is a Γ-shaped slot, perhaps intended to form a joint with the mold for the back. Marks in the wet clay outside, Λ , may possibly be a signature (?). Dark pink clay. ADDENDA, H.A. Thompson: The Γ-shaped slot at the left side of the mold is simply finger hold. D. Burr-Thompson: The mark Λ is not a signature.
