APC Image: AK 1118Neolithic ware. All of the neolithic sherds, 17 in number, are of good fabric, with a smooth surface, which is not in all cases polished. The clay is of gray or dull red color, black at the core. In this photograph a common type of neolithic handle is illustrated. The large loop handle which is rolled from the rim of the vase continues into the Early Helladic Period where it is fairly common. The horizontally pierced lug is commonly met with in this period (bottom right). This last sherd is interesting not only for its rolled rim on the inside, but also because its inner surface presents almost a rippled appearance, due to the marks of the polishing implement.
