Stratum: | cleaning basket of sand and silt deposited by rain wash since last excavation of area East of diamond tile pool (NB 973): light brown brown silty sand 10% rounded pebbles 2% cobbles
Notes: | In the SE corner of the area the soil revealed by the cleaning was darker brown and more silty. It was considered to be a depression in the, possibly filled in by soil being washed in from the baulk to the E. When dug, it revealed the same material as the rest of the cleaning basket and was included with that material. To the south of the millstone some sherds of rooftile (Laconian) were removed and a few fragments of wall plaster (red and yellow).
