Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   986
Context:   42

Date:   2007/05/10
Lot:   Lot 2007-016
Stratum:   Fill, yellowish brown, loose, 95% inclusions, moderately well sorted, pebbles and large cobbles
Notes:   Removal of a thin strip of fill with a large concentration of cobbles revealed at the close of basket 41. This basket revealed a small amount of pottery, a stone with a worked depression, and a small piece of cement with pebbles set into it, perhaps for from flooring or a built pithos. All of this has been sent to the museum to be cleaned in order to preserve what may be some geometric sherds. The fill in this strip began to slope slightly under cutting the fill directly to the north of it along the entirety of the basket. This may suggest that this fill to the north cuts the fill of this basket, making the fill to the north later than this basket. We are going to remove this fill as basket 43. We closed this basket when we came across a colluvial level.
