Stratum: | Fill over deposit of miniature vessels, very light, whitish/yellowish-brown, compact clay, 15% inclusions, moderately sorted, pebbles and some cobbles
Notes: | Removal of a very light, compact layer of fill revealed partly by baskets 23, 54, and 55. We removed this fill because it covered a more reddish fill also revealed in basket 55. While removing this layer, we came across several small vessels closely associated with one another. Further exploration showed that these vessels were part of a small, shallow pit perhaps associated with a foundation deposit. When we realized this (After the removal of 3 vessels) we temporarily left this basket and excavated the foundation deposit as its own basket (basket 57). We returned to this basket once the deposit was dug and closed the basket when the compact, white layer had been removed. We saved the soil from the basket to be water sieved because it contained some of the fill from the foundation deposit. We sent 2 zembils of dirt and pottery from this basket and in addition to the miniature vessels, this basket also revealed a single loom weight. Loom weight levels: E-417.185 N-978.484 H-91.085
