Description:   Top slope of the context is level down to the SE. The soil color is very dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   When excavating context 1092, we came upon a possible foundation trench for wall 1007 and decided to dig it in order to determine the relationship between wall 1007 and its surrounding area and chronology. The earth is darker and more clay-ey than context 1092. There are roots growing through the layer.
The color of the soil ranges from very dark yellowish to slightly reddish.
We decided to seive 100% to better understand the chronology--to try to date the foundation of wall 1007.
The foundation trench seems to cut through context 1099, which was revealed by the removal of context 1092, which suggests that wall 1007 postdates context 1099.
This trench turned out not to be a foundation trench of the wall 1007 (unless we determine there are multiple phases to the wall _or_ it is a second surface of the foundation trench) because the stones of the wall continue under the new surface. There was a moderate amount of pottery in the fill. We will give the trench cut #1098.
