| Description: | Top slope of the context is uneven down to the S. The soil color is light greenish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | 263 is the fill below the water pipe (258). This is essentially the same as 259, the fill around the pipe, except without the large cobbles that were used for packing in that context. The soil is removed easily with a trowel and is just sitting on the bottom of the cut. There was no cut north of Sructure 243 wall and there, the fill of 263 was removed down to the level of the surrounding context.The fill under the pipe is not much. However, some of this soil was left around the bottom of the pipe and up against the sides, making a negative impression of the pipe. Again, more evidence that 263 belongs with 259, the packing fill. At the south end of this context, the pipe was built on top of a N-S wall (unumbered at this time) and there is hardly any soil at all. | |
