Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is loose. It is mixed- see description.
Notes:   Context 482 is th cleaning/scraping of the area North of wall 366, west of the south remains of drain 426 and around and west of wall 470. The purpose of this operation is to determine the relationsship of the various strategraphic deposits, as it was unclear how to proceed. In the course of scraping, an l-shaped deposit was revealed; it appears to be the fill of robbing trenches for parts of the N-S wall 306 and E-W wall 366. The scraping also revealed a deposit with inclusions of large pieces of roof tile and stones , perhaps reflecting destruction debris. This deposit continues underneath the structure designated as wall 470.
On the east side of wall 470 there is another possible destruction deposit which consists of small pieces of tiles, pottery and rocks; this deposit also seems to continue underneath structure 470. We expect that with the excavation of wall 470 we will be able to understand the relationship between these two deposits. Also, south of cut 272 there is an area with a distinct soil that abuts the pebble floor that was exposed with the removal of deposit context 460. This deposit is a higher elevation and later than the deposits to the south. We decided therefore to close the cleaning context and proceed with the excavation of the area south of cut 272 (deposit context 484).
