Notes: | Pit fil deposit context 515 is the excavation of the the first fill from the top of the pit cut 517. This pit is located in the room bounded by the walls 313 to the east and 332 to the west. Pit fill 515 was truncated by, and therefore predates the pit cut 513. Context 515 is the remaining fill at the south side of pit cut 517. It is possible that the pit fill 515 and redeposited mudbrick pit fill 514 are differentiated fills of one large pit or fills of 2 larger pits both trunctaed by the later pit cut 513. The excavation of pit fill 515 exposed a harder deposit below with boulders and broken tiles. Some of the tile fragments are lying flat marking the change between the deposits and that the pit was filled with a at least two differentiated fills. We closed context 515 at this change and will proceed with the excavation of the second fro the top pit fill (context 516). Later notes, 18 May 2009, SD/JC After further excavation it became clear that context 514 (mudbrick deposit) is not associated with pit ut 517, but is instead the first from top fill of pit cut 527. | |
