Stratum:   This soil contains small stones, mediums pebbles, rounded spherical. 2-5%.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greenish yellow. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   We are excavating 5168, a deposit along the wall on our east (W39=Wall 5218). The soil is a grayish yellow intermixed with some brown particles. The soil often consists of small clumps that break easily and cleanly. They are also easily manipulated by the fingers. The soil contains only sparse small stone intrustions, of various size and shipes, but mostly round spherical ones. We came down to general fill similar to that in the rest of the area--brown with flecks of charcoal.
Context 5168 seems to be a whitish marl surface which may have been a 12th or 13th century floor. See also context 5170, which is probably the same surface.
