Stratum:   10% inclusions: pebbles (0.02 m, subangular), pottery (0.05-0.07 m), charcoal, fragmented roof tiles
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This deposit was a layer of silty fill underlying Context 5375, a wall consisting of dumped rubble. The deposit was shallow- only about 0.10 m, and revealed two contexts beneath it (5382, 5383). We did not expect to see two contexts from looking at just the section, but they were clear in plan. Both new contexts were softer in consistency than 5378.
It is important that it be noted that we proceeded slightly out of stratigraphic sequence with this context. We took down the surface of 5378 before the wall on its S side (Context 5376), which should have been removed first, since the level it overlies appears to be the same as 5378. We were unable to remove it today for logistial reasons, so we instead proceeded here. We will probably remove 5376 soon.
