Stratum:   Small, medium, large angular pebbles; 5%
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is a removal of dark reddish soil forming the boundary of a pit not fully excavated in the 1960s. The pit extend 0.10m further to the south, 0.14m further north, 0.30m further west, and no further east, giving the pit the following dimensions: 1.24m x 2.25m. The E-W wall we exposed in the E scarp of the pit during the cleanup 5932 (wall 6052), that probably connected with wall 5631 to the west before being cut by the pit, is the E boundary of the pit cut. To the W, we found the cut about 0.28m away from pebble floor 5934 at the farthest, but only abutting the pebble floor at the closest point (though the top of the pit as it remained after the 1960s excavations is 0.13m lower than the top of the pebble floor). This pit probably cut through the pebble floor, as well as the clay floors above (5915 and 5920).
The northern edge of this pit was excavated down about 30cm, and came down on soil heavy with tiles that extends N under the top 30cm of soil outside the context. This soil is more compact, and will be taken later as its own context. Our diggers wonder if another pit continues N.
The southeast area is blackish brown under this context, and was taken separately as 5940. Excavation along the SE also exposed more courses of cobbles under 10077. With the removal of 5940, 5 courses of cobbles and a top layer of tile is exposed.
This context was extended to the NE, above the wall in the NE of the scarp of the pit. It extends N of 10085 0.45m, to its E edge around 281.51.
