Structure materials: Roughly hewn limestones (2), one with smooth finish; fieldstones. Material size: .24x .32 x .22m; .37 x .14 x.28m; .2 x 0.1 x 0.1m. Material finish: 2 roughly hewn. Material bonding: None. Features: None.
Notes:   This drain seems to have been constructed (perhaps immediately) before pebble floor 5934, which directly abuts the drain to the SW. In Travlos' drawings from the 1960s the drain extended farther E, and there is a gap between the stones in 10083 (north of the threshold) that could be a continuation out to the road outside the house.
There are tiles running in-between the stones of the drain and under them. This area is on harder soil, and was constructed in preparation for the drain. It will be removed in its own context. After removing this context, we have the same ridge running W-E as continues W-E through the two rooms, exiting through the gap in 10083. We believe the drain began at the W end of this context if not further W, and continued out of the house to the E.
After excavating this context, we designated the cut of the drain 5947.
