Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes: | This context is a removal of compact, clayey soil in the E room of our area. The soil was fairly moist on the surace due to rainfall from the night before, and mixed soil had accumulated in this area due to wash and the traffic of the wheelbarrow route, but it was easy to see and feel soil change nder the top couple of centimeters. The top of another course of wall 10083 was exposed, except under the area of the large threshold block where there is still only soil visible. This unit is bound on the S by wall 10079, on the N by the cut of the drain 5947, on the E by wall 10083, and on the W by the possible continuation of 10086. While excavating this unit, we noticed a small bronze object OUTSIDE of this context to the W. It is on top of the possible Cs continuation of wall 10086, directly E of the pit. This object is not from context 399, but has been kicked up, possibly from the rainfall of the previous night. In the center of the N part of 5999 we exposed patches of black charcoal (the central patch measuring .42x.18cm) and anthher patch of grayish black soil surfaced in the SW. At the bottom of this context, we came down on softer, lighter soil extending .85m W of wall 10083; harder reddish soil with all the charcoal inclusions in the center, and a soft brown linear cut extending .24m east of 10086.
