Description:   The context shape in plan is irregular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: None.
Notes:   Cut 6014 is a cut for an unidentified feature, possibly a robbing trench, along the eastern side of room which is north of Byzantine house courtyard. Identified during removal of context 6011. Cut 6014 is irregular in shape, but has linear edges. At northern end it runs E-W, then turns 90 degrees southward at western edge. It then runs N-S down to wall (5471), but also does another 90 degree turn, this time to west about 45 cm from last turn. It runs E-W for approximately xxx and then turns N-S in an arc and runs almost to wall 5471 but first does 90 degree turns east and runs E-W for approximately 45 cm before taking 90 degree turn to south and runs into wall 5471.
Feature/deposit for which this cut made is difficult to interpret now. Removal of context 6011, deposit in cut 6014, produced large stones, particularly in northern part of context. Linear nature of stones suggests a robbing trench for a hitherto unknown wall (or drain?), which runs N-S and then turns 90 degrees and runs E-W towards the west.
We will have to wait for a more definitive interpretation.
Cut 6014 cuts through a surface which is same on both eastern and western sides, but appears to go under revealed floor surface which covers entire western section of room.
Dating this context and its associated deposit (6011) will provide important information towards interpretting the construction history in the room and the relationship of the building history in the eastern and western half.
Structure revealed now labeled as context 6016.
