Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | This is the surface level of the baulk left on the E side of 10083 after the excavations of the 1960s. This area has been exposed to the elements since then and is somewhat overgrown and eroded, so we are are taking the firs level off as cleaning. We are opening this area to see if the cut of the drain (6023) exposed in the room to the W and traced to the W side of wall 10082 and apperaing to go beneathe the wall continues on this side. In the area where the cut was expected we came down on large boulders, wheras to the Nthere is more steril soil with tile and small stone inclusions. Having reached a clear distinciton between deposits, we closed the cleaning context and opend a context for the level of soil and tiles. - One of the stones removed with this fill may habe been a displaced part of a drain, based on its shape Having reached a clear distinction between deposits we closed he cleaning context and opened a context for the level deposit of soil below.
