Area:   Nezi Field
Context Type:   Fill
Title:   Fill with tiles
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1103
Context:   6191
Page:   0
Date:   2009/04/29
Stratum:   40% inclusions: pottery sherds, tile fragments, bone, small angular and subrounded to rounded coarse pebbles, cobbles.
Description:   The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   6191 was dug separately from the contexts above (6180) and immediately to its east (6186) because there appears to have been a series of dumpings that filled up this entire section and that are observable in the bulk on the north side of 5935 (excavated by Potenza and Boehm, 2009). There was not a major change in soil color, but there seems to be an increase in the number of tiles, pottery sherds, and other inclusions. All the soil removed was dry sieved, revealing tile fragments, sherds, bones, small plaster chunks, and some carbonized remains. We closed context 6191 because the removal of the deposit revealed three post holes.
18-5-09 notes: It was understood later that 6191 was deposited after cut 6199 occurred and, along with 6186, 6184, and 6180, fills cut 6199.
Tile weight is 21.4 kilos.
