Stratum:   Sandy silt with 50% inclusions: pebbles, spherical and angular cobbles, tile, bone, ceramics
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are excavating a floor in the NE corner of the room W of the Byzantine house's courtyard. This floor is damaged by the N pit and appears to slump at its northern end into what may be the foundation trench for wall 5725. We are taking a flotation sample because the floor is somewhat ashy and may yield ograngic material which, combined with the material from near contemporary hearth ( ) could help to determine the history of usage for this room. The slumping area to the N end of the floor may also be the result of root action. I feel like I should be writing more than I am, but I just don't have that much to say.
