| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | Context 6804 is a surface of compact earth covering the northwestern part of the room west of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. It was first revealed during the removal of context 6802. It is truncated by cuts 6762, 6796, and 6799 and continues beneath walls 5725 and 5724. The soil of 6804 is dark reddish brown clayey silt with 5% inclusions. The shallow nature of 6804, analogous to the surfaces abive (eg. 6793, 6800, 6802) could suggest it is some type of accumulated fill. This would help explain why there are so few finds of any kind in the soil. However, one would expect an accumulated fill to be slumped up higher to one side. Perhaps this is the area somewhere in one of the areas the context cannot be dug beneath walls 5724 and 5725. | |
