Description:   The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context was originally meant to be excavated on April 4, 2013, but context 996 was dug first. This is the robbing trench of wall 807 on the E. The trench extends to the south of wall 886 where context 886 became considerably lower. HG observes lots of plaster fragments.
After the 1st and 2nd pass, the context seems to continue further down.
Panos found an almost complete lamp - ca. 35-40 cm south of the north edge of the context. HG gave a rough date of the Classical period. The lamp is black slipped without decoration.
After the third pass we came upon a tumble of stones - may be a different phase of the wall. This is the eastern part of the context. There are two large stones in the western portion. They are different colours. At the bottom of 994 on the eastern end we exposed a level of cemented tiles. The tiles are much higher than the tumbled stones. This closes the context.
