Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes: | This context was begun when we realized after Machal Gradoz went into the well that we had reached the top of the side channel on both sides just above the bottom of context 125. The water is flowing quickly but we continued to dig because often wells, unless the bottom is blocked with boulders, should have more fill below. We got two zembels (30L) of watery mud from it. The soil was very similar to that above it. 27-05-2015 Upon further reflection and research into the excavations of wells V and VII it was clear that we had in fact hone deeper than both in terms of absolute depth- to 10.25m from the well-head block. Marios reports close to 1.5m of water in the morning and the lowest we can get it to is 0.80m using a water pump. At that depth of water, Marios reported that he had reached a rounded and tapered bedrock bottom to the well with no further soil. After 5hours of water pumping and checking the bttom of the well, we decided to consider the well finished. The water made it impossible to investigate the side chennels thoroughly. When Broneer dug the bottoms of the wells he lowered to water level in Peirene, a feat we cannont replicate at this time.
