Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context is a possible FT for the E wall of Room C. It was revealed when the martyr of 169 was removed. It is very irregularly cut into the bedrock on its W. It did not get truncated by the RT of Wall 44 on the S side. The soil is very similar to that removed from the FT's around wall 38, but the elevation indicates that it should be for the Roman wall. But that Roman wall was largely removed by the late Roman wall that Brenner found in 1933, so it is possible this is a Greek stoa FT. This context reveals the rocks of the lowest course of the east wall of shop VI. We removed 24x15 liters of soil from it.
