Type:   Basket
Name:   South Stoa, context 313
Area:   South Stoa
Title:   Thin Grey Layer SE of the Center of the Trench
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   313
Date:   2016/04/08
Stratum:   a few pebbles, a few sherds, modern material (belt buckle)
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   The exposed surface of this soil appears grey, but when excavated it looks redder, probably because of the red layer beneath it.
A loom weight and a modern belt buckle (MF-2016-18) had been trampled into the surface of 313. Within the layer, we found a modern sherd, some modern iron, and another unidentified modern black cylinder.
10:00am: Costas noticed that the SE most portion was much rockier, though the soil was still the same, so we opened it as a new context 314.
