| Description: | The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | We open this context to remove the patch of redder fill in the S part of 4RE and sloping down to the S. On the surface, there is a clear boundary between this fill and the browner fill exposed to the N of it after the excavation of context 418, but it is unclear (as of yet) whether any of this brown fill extends underneath the redder/pinker fill. The reddish/pinkish fill is a loose silty sand and is slighly grayer and even looser towards the southern scarp. As we remove this fill, we expose bedrock (or stereo) over the area of the context, except for a small patch of different fill in the SE of the context with some tile and rock inclusions. A note that some of the soil excavated from this context is swept down to the S over the scarp, and so note quite 100% ends up being seived. Coin 100 was found at the sieve. | |
