Stratum:   bone, sherds
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the NW. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   we opened this context and took elevations 9/5, but did not excavate it until 10/5. we opened it because its soil was redder than 513 above it.
Initially we thought that this reddish layer extended over the entire area of cut 497, but excavation showed that it was in fact only a small patch along the southern edge of the cut. It is likely part of the same filling action as 513 and 515, but different soil.
