Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   this context should have been excavated before 554, as it is laid against 554. it is of mixed composition-- it is much rockier (including several cobbles) towards the north, fewer elsewhere. We interpret it as a repair to the lens of the surface that is 554. initially we thought that was 555 was part of that surface, which is why we excavated it first.
