Stratum: | 5% small clay chunks (reddish brown and yellow), rarer flecks of carbon, 2% tile fragments and stones
Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes: | Same soil as 82 but even fewer shells and bones. This context was begun arbitrarily after removing the rest of the soil around the wellhead was removed. Marios notes that there are deep holes in the soil below the wellhead perhaps indicating more rocks below. Many largeish stones were removed from the top of this context along with a few tiles. This soil, in addition to having fewer formal bones, also has less pottery than some fo the previous levels of the well. On elargish rectangular limestone piece seemed to have been worked roughly (dim. 0.38x0.20x0.2m). Several of the other bones have one roughly hewn flat side but are small and broken. A coin was found at 74.93 and another; these were both found amid fragments of pottery and rubble. There are more rocks at the bottom of this context. We are closing both because of the rocks and the depth. At 79.93 the top of a long pan tile was found, we dig around it to reach ca. 25cm of depth. At 74.88 we find a coin. Tile: 29, 19.3kg.
