Notes:   1080 is a marl deposit north of 1079 (the other marl deposit exposed during cleaning and scraping of unit 1 prior to excavation). The goal was to understand the relationship between 1080 and other deposits visible on surface. It has been theorized that the various deposits are different phases of packed earthen floors. In general, 1080 has more seashells and gravel inclusions than 1079, especially in the SW quadrant of the unpaved courtyard. Ceramics and other artifacts are laying parallel to horizontal floor, though the floor surface is slightly undulating. Underneath 1080, a hard packed gravel floor was uncovered. The removal of 1080 also exposed a foundation trench, approx. 16cm wide, running alongside the north wall. At this stage, excavation of 1080 stopped, and excavation of 1081 (floor of packed earth below 1079) began. Floor does not continue under paved courtyard to the south; therefore, 1080 was deposited either contemporaneously or before the construction of the paved courtyard the south of the unpaved courtyard.
