Date:   2017/5/11
Stratum:   Fine to medium subrounded pebbles (30%), lime, rare ceramics and bone.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SW. The soil color is light yellowish white. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   A difference in soil compaction, as well as the lateral fracture of the upper layer from the lower layer are the primary indicators of a new context level. The boundaries of 1097 were defined by as follows: in the south, by the edges of the paved courtyard (though the floor can be observed continuing under paving stones); in the north, by the north wall; in east, by a scarp (it had been decided bisect the unpaved courtyard and excavate an area spanning 2m from the west scarp); and in the west, by the west edge of the scarp.
1097 had a smoothed upper surface.
The goal in excavating this area was to understand the "mud brick structure" exposed during the first session of the 2017 excavations. 2m east of west scarp was chosen as the eastern boundary because there are only 9 full days of excavation remaining and it is important to leave enough time to excavate the area fully.
