Context:   1098
Date:   2017/5/11
Stratum:   Tile (1%), ceramics (5%), charcoal (<1%).
Description:   The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Two bottom elevations taken. 85.335 (max.), 85.254 (min.); slope downwards on west side.
Opened after the removal of 1097. 1098 was visible on surface as well as in wall of trench. At the beginning of context excavation, lower boundary of pit was unknown. In the west unit of unpaved couryard, excavated during season 1 of 2017, a robber trench was noted running alongside south scarp of unit, and so this may complicate our reading of the area. The shallowness of the cut suggests this is not a cut, but instead a patch to fix floor 1099 (though it is laid against 2001 and 2000).
