Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   As no floor associated with the construction phase of wall context 59 and 157, that form the boundaries of room 7, had yet been identified, we began excavating the deposits in the space. Deposit 194, a soft lens of what appeared to be uniform fill covering the surface of the room, was removed. Five to six cm of this fill were removed, revealing a lower surface characterized by what appeared to be several small lenses of fill (ash lens 197, fill 199 and fill 201). Context 197 appeared to partially overlap fill 199. Also revealed by the removal of context 194 was a hard clayey fill extending 3 meters N from the southern wall. This fill was later given context number 202. The room was sectioned at the midpoint of the southern wall (120.23, 1077.42; 123.99, 1078.04) in order to allow an exploration of the relationship between the surfaces in room 7 and the southern wall, without venturing into the southern corridor, as it was noted that fill context 197 appeared to continue into it.
