Category: | Deposit | |
Notebook: | 1108 | |
Context: | 334 | |
Date: | 2014/05/19 | |
Stratum: | Fine and coarse, sub-rounded pebbles and tile, around 60%, some ash
Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish red. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | While excavating context 313 in the W section of the corridor between Unit 2 and the N wall of the churhc, we came down on a tiley deposit sitting at the surface of Room 7 and the corridor. When we began excavating, the tile was revealed to be covering the top of a small, shallow pit thought to be a dog's resting spot. The deposit was stopped when it was clear that underneath and next to it was a harder and clayier layer (perhaps associated with the wall next to the deposit).
