Notebook:   1108
Context:   399
Date:   2014/05/25
Description:   The context shape in plan is circular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are mixed. The break at the base of the cut is gradual. The base of the cut is tapered rounded point.
Notes:   Cut Context 399 is a small, round cut for a pit or post hole, cut into the yet unexcavated working surface revealed during the excavation of fill context 389. The pit is only 14cm away from Wall Context 20 (the N wall of the church), which seems like a rather odd location for a post, but its fill (a deep red silty sand with minimal inclusions) appears composed of decayed organic material. We sent the fill for flotation.
