Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Thin lens N of church nave
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   523
Date:   2014/06/12
Stratum:   25% small bits of plaster, pottery, bone, iron nail
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This is a very thin lens that overlays the hard-packed walking surface 483. It had small (1-3 mm) bits of plaster in it. This layer only became apparent after a mid-morning rain shower, which dampened the ground and brought out the contrast between 483 and 523. This appears to be a lens of dirt that overlays the walking surface 483 and is probably a one-time deposit related to work in the corridor. Since this lens predates wall 156/510, this space may not be sharply delineated as a corridor yet. This lens is deposited along with other fill after the deposition of an adult male burial in Grave 2014-11.
