Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   73
Date:   2014/04/21
Stratum:   None.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light pinkish red. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is clay.
Notes:   We open this context having exposed a red patch of clay immediately below the mudbricks excavated as context 63. The red patch was exposed after the removal of the second floor in context 64. The red patch appears to be a thin layer on top of the third floor (deposit 82) and is probably part of the melted mudbrick above. The red layer turned out to be very thin, and after only 0.04m of excavation a new, gray soil was revealed consistent with that of the floor of context 64. The mudbrick and its run-off must have laid on this third surface layer. We stop excavation after removing all the red soil.
