Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 808
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 808
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Pit in SW corner of Room 9
Notebook:   1109
Context:   808
Date:   2015/06/02
Description:   The context shape in plan is irregular". The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are stepped. The break at the base of the cut is gradual. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: Most likely truncated by later pit 733..
Notes:   Pit was filled with deposits 805 and 807. The surface into which it is cut is the same as rocky layer 809. (LN: AMS 2/6/15: Rocky layer 809 was on top of flat layer 812, which is actually the layer into which 808 is cut.)
Pit has one "step" down to the lowest level (LN: AMS 23/6/15 - this step occurred at 817 - so 817 was the upper base of pit 808).
LN: Pit 808 may be cutting into an earlier pit, in the very corner of the room, which was filled with deposit 807. However, it could be a single, stepped pit with two deposit phases.
Pit 808 likely continued further to the north, but has been truncated by the later (?) larger pit 733.
